Over 40,000 Maine Students Make their Voices Heard
?
AUGUSTA, MAINE – Secretary of State Charlie Summers announced that more than 40,000 students from 188 schools submitted their results to the Secretary of State’s Office in Maine’s 2012 Student Mock Election. Final results are now available on our website http://www.maine.gov/sos/kids/mockelection/index.html.
Students voted on mock ballots for the offices of President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and they voted on the 5 statewide referendum questions appearing on Maine ballots.
Due to the challenge of working around Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, the Mock Election Rally and Tally Celebration at the Augusta Armory was cancelled and voting deadlines were extended to Tuesday, November 6 by the National Student Parent Mock Election.
