Secretary of State Charles E. Summers, Jr. To Speak at Maine’s Mid-Coast Veterans Council Meeting
Secretary of State Charlie Summers will be speaking at the Mid-Coast Veterans Council meeting at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the American Legion, 79 Foreside Road in Topsham.
Secretary Summers will discuss the employment challenges faced by Veterans and small business opportunities which he believes would benefit both businesses and Veterans alike.
The Mid-Coast Veterans Council assists Veterans who are residents of Maine’s mid-coast region or their dependents in securing all benefits or preferences to which they may be entitled under any state and federal laws; or regulations. The Veteran's Council is responsible for organizing Topsham’s Veterans Day and Memorial Day Parades. Currently, The Veterans Council is working to obtain a piece of property at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in order to open a Veterans Center.
"The unique skill set that our Veterans bring to the table should be actively sought after as they can play a vital role in the success of Maine businesses, both large and small. As a veteran myself, I am especially pleased to be able to discuss matters such as employment which is obviously of paramount importance to our returning service men and women.”
