Secretary of State Charles E. Summers, Jr. To Address Seeds of Peace Campers

AUGUSTA, MAINE – Secretary of State Charlie Summers will be meeting with campers at the Seeds of Peace International Camp located in Otisfield, Maine at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 4, 2011.

Secretary Summers will speak about his career path and what led him to public service.  He will also discuss his role as Secretary of State and the importance of civic duty.

Seeds of Peace is an international organization with the mission of empowering young leaders from regions of conflict with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation and coexistence.  For nearly twenty years the organization has operated a summer camp in Maine which serves as a neutral environment for young leaders from both sides of major conflicts around the world.  Campers are given the opportunity to confront their prejudices and ingrained fears, as well as address the issues that have caused conflicts in their respective nations.
