The Maine State Library is in the process of reopening following the renovation of the Maine Cultural Building.

Curbside pickup and Interlibrary Loan are available. In-person visits/appointments and reference services remain paused while we prepare to reopen.

Directions from I-95

1. From the south: Take Exit 109 from I-95 North and follow signs for US Route 202 East / Western Avenue toward Augusta.
   From the north: Take Exit 109B from I-95 South toward Augusta / Western Avenue.
2. Follow Western Avenue (US Route 202 East) toward downtown Augusta for approximately 1.4 miles.
3. At Memorial Circle, bear right onto State Street.
4. Continue on State Street past the Maine State House.
5. At the next traffic signal, turn right into the State House Complex parking area.
6. The Maine State Library is located in the Maine Cultural Building at 230 State Street, across the parking area from the State House.

Parking

Free parking is available in lots surrounding the Maine Cultural Building. Please observe posted parking restrictions, particularly when the Legislature is in session.

EV charging: Electric vehicle charging stations are located in the parking area on the State Street side of the Maine Cultural Building, immediately adjacent to the EMS Memorial.
