On February 16, 2022, as part of a regular annual update, we updated the rates for MaineCare Benefits Manual, Chapter II, Section 101, Medical Imaging Services, in MIHMS, retroactively to January 1, 2022.

Effective February 21, 2022, no PA is needed for insulin used during pregnancy.
MaineCare will reimburse for Humulin and Novolin Neutral Protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin for pregnant patients without a PA when pregnancy is indicated on the prescription.
If you receive a denial of a prescription for Humulin or Novolin NPH insulin for prior authorization and pregnancy is indicated on the prescription, please contact the Change Healthcare Pharmacy Helpdesk at 1-888-420-9711 for a pregnancy override.
