Nutrition Education
Good nutrition is one of the best gifts you can give your children – and yourself! Research shows that children who are well nourished do better in school, get sick less often, and are less prone to behavior problems.
The Maine CDC WIC Nutrition Program is committed to helping families reap these benefits. Every WIC appointment includes nutrition education to help parents and caregivers make the best possible decisions about feeding the next generation of Mainers.
The WIC program is now offering WICSmart, a free nutrition education application. With this option, participants can take nutrition education online from their home computer or from their phone, limiting the number of visits to the WIC office. WICSmart is available to all participants; however, some participants will require a follow-up appointment. Please contact your local WIC staff to see if you qualify.
Today's experts encourage parents to make food a pleasant experience, offering appropriate choices and limits. Learn more about feeding your child
Many families have questions about BPA, a substance found in many baby bottles and water bottles, which may be harmful. Learn more about BPA and how to avoid it
You and your family's health is just as important now as it was when you were pregnant. Take a look at our Next Steps to Health for you and your family brochure for great information to keeping your family healthy!
