Title 28-B §105 requires that the department implement and administer a system for the tracking of cannabis plants, adult use cannabis and adult use cannabis products from immature cannabis plant to the point of retail sale, disposal or destruction. In February of 2020, the Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) entered into a contract with Metrc, LLC to satisfy its statutory requirement.
Inventory tracking is one of the hallmarks of a well-regulated cannabis industry. However, OCP realizes that while the process of tracking provides important data and public health and safety safeguards, it also poses challenges to our licensed operators.
