Flood Information for Maine Engineers, Surveyors, & Architects
The Maine Floodplain Management Program and FEMA consider engineers, surveyors and architects employed by private firms or by Federal, State, and local agencies actively involved in the development of the new and updated flood hazard information presented on National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) flood hazard maps and related products to be partners in the on going effort to improve the quality of floodplain mapping. eLOMA Process
In an effort to streamline processing of Letters of Map Amendments (LOMAs) for basic residential requests FEMA, in association with the National Service Provider (NSP), has designed a new interactive online determination tool for MT-1 requests called eLOMA. eLOMA is a web-based application within the Mapping Information Platform (MIP) that provides licensed land surveyors and professional engineers (Licensed Professionals) with a system to submit simple Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) requests to FEMA. By using eLOMA Licensed Professionals will be able to submit requests for existing single residential structures or properties, provided no fill has been placed to raise the elevations of the structure or property, on line. This tool is designed to make a determination based on the information submitted by the Licensed Professional and allow them to generate a determination from FEMA quickly. Convert Horizontal and Vertical Datums
The Army Corps of Engineers has a program called Corpscon, Version 6.0, which is a MS-Windows-based program which allows the user to convert coordinates between Geographic, State Plane, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) and US National Grid systems on the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD 27), the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) and High Accuracy Reference Networks (HARNs). Corpscon uses the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) program Nadcon to convert between NAD 27, NAD 83 and HARNs. Corpscon, Version 6.0, performs vertical conversions to and from the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD 29) and the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88). Vertical conversions are based on the NGS program Vertcon and can be performed for the continental U.S. only.
