Equipment and Services Directory
Maine DEP is required to establish and maintain a list of equipment for use in responding to marine oil spills under Maine's 1991 Public Law Chapter 454, An Act to Improve Marine Oil Spill Prevention, Planning, and Response. This list, maintained as Appendix I of the Maine Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan, assists in identifying resources available to the State of Maine which can be utilized in responding to marine oil spills. It also provides a tool by which gaps in response readiness can be identified and addressed.
While Maine DEP is the main audience for the list, other agencies, organizations, and individuals, such as the Maine/New Hampshire Area Committee, utilize the list in assuring response readiness. Portions of the equipment and services directory are adopted in the ME & NH Area Contingency Plan.
While the Directory is not exhaustive, it provides a useful reference for accessing the tools, equipment, and people needed to respond to oil and chemical spills in coastal areas.
The Equipment and Services Directory can be accessed here: Appendix I - Resource Directory (March 2022)
