Maine Ecoregions
Ecoregional classification and delineation for Maine at the 'section' level.
Ecoregional classifications delineate broad geographic patterns incorporating major vegetation types, climate, and geology. Ecoregional classifications provide a useful way of stratifying large landscapes into discrete units for conservation planning efforts. This ecoregional map is at the 'section' level (intermediate between coarser-scaled 'provinces' and finer-scaled 'subsections') and draws from various national and state classification efforts including Bailey (1995), Keys et al. (1995), and McMahon (1990).
