Data Description and Usage

Point locations and extent polygons of Maine inland landslides (landslides not related to coastal processes), interpreted and digitized from lidar topographic data (generally at 1:5,000 scale) by Maine Geological Survey staff. Features located along streams or rivers were likely altered and/or eroded by fluvial processes after the event, so the actual disturbed extents may be greater. These data are meant to help inform decisions at the local, regional, and state-level. Users must assume responsibility in determining the usability of this data for their purposes. Metadata is included for all of the downloadable layers and should be reviewed for more specifics on how these data were created. Data Download

The landslide point and extent layers can be downloaded as shapefiles for use in any GIS software to perform further spatial analysis.
