Making Changes in Maine
Changing the world may seem like a momentous task, but it is happening through a group of committed individuals in Maine.
Ending Hunger Corps (EHC) is a foundational element in Everyone at the Table: Maine’s Roadmap to End Hunger by 2030. The Roadmap recognized the existence of resource organizations throughout the State, but that the effectiveness of the organizations was limited by their capacity. Ending Hunger Corps was formed with the purpose of overcoming that limitation. Using the skills of VISTA members from around the country to increase the capacity and effectiveness of food security programs, Ending Hunger Corps is working with organizations in actively stabilizing families throughout Maine.

Molly
Molly is our Equity & Community Impact VISTA at Good Shepherd Food Bank! Her service includes coordinating community outreach, conducting data collection, and organizing data dashboards and visuals. “As a history major, with a concentration in Peace and Conflict Studies and Social Justice, I guided my studies to explore histories of those who experienced oppression. While learning of the past, I continually questioned how we might combat contemporary poverty and other injustices.”

Laura
This is Laura’s second year serving as an Ending Hunger Corps VISTA member at Good Shepherd Food Bank! Last year Laura’s focus was on volunteer recruitment, management, and engagement, while this year she will be developing a service-learning program to engage and empower youth.
“I’ve been able to combine my passion for working with youth and ending hunger through creating a service-learning program for Good Shepherd. I’m most excited to see how students come up with creative solutions to fight hunger within their communities!”
