Being a Correctional Officer or Juvenile Program Worker is a challenging and important role that requires a strong commitment to safety, security, mentorship, and rehabilitation. Being selected to interview for such a crucial position would be a testament to an applicant’s accomplishments.
When you apply, HR will contact you within 1-2 business day to have an initial conversation. For those who qualify, they will work with you to schedule an interview time that’s convenient for all.
While these are a highly selective positions, we do not treat interviews as gotchas. We want you to do well so that you can move on to the next step. To that end, we are providing expectations that we have of interviewees so you can anticipate the format and come prepared with your best.
First Impression
Correctional Officers and Juvenile Program Workers take pride in the uniform and being punctual and prepared when they report to work for the day. You can make a good first impression by treating the interview with the same respect.
Format
- Interview panel of up to three experienced staff.
- Interviewers will be a mix of Captains, Corporals, staff development, training officers, administrators, or HR, depending on the facility.
- Questions are asked in situational format.
- You are welcome to bring notes and take notes.
