The Attorney General is committed to protecting Maine’s environment by providing legal advice and representation to the following State environmental and natural resources agencies:
Department of Agriculture
- Maine Milk Commission
- Board of Pesticides Control
- Animal Welfare Program
- Quality Assurance and Regulations
Department of Conservation
Department of Environmental Protection
Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife
Department of Marine Resources
The Attorney General also has independent authority to enforce or prosecute violations of Maine State environmental laws generally, and has specific enforcement authority under statutes governing conservation easements and unfair trade practices. The Attorney General is not authorized to provide legal advice or representation to private parties.
