Pursuant to M.R.S. 24-A, §4311-A, the Bureau reviews carrier pain management services plans that include both medication and alternative non-medication services. In its review, the Bureau considers the adequacy of the plan’s access to a broad spectrum of pain management services and whether any policies adopted by the carrier create unduly preferential coverage of and access to prescribed opioids for pain management without consideration of other pain management services.
