Governor Janet Mills joined 19 fellow Governors today to launch the Reproductive Freedom Alliance, a multi-state coalition focused on protecting and expanding reproductive freedom.

The nonpartisan alliance, open to all governors who support reproductive rights, is the largest coalition of its type ever assembled. Founding members have committed to work collaboratively to expand reproductive rights in their states and to fight efforts to restrict access to abortion and other forms of reproductive healthcare.

Governor Janet Mills has requested that President Joe Biden issue a Major Disaster Declaration for several Maine counties in the wake of the severe winter storm that battered Maine in late December.

In a letter to the President yesterday, Governor Mills said that high winds and significant rainfall during the storm led to substantial flooding, extensive road washouts and closures, widespread power outages, and infrastructure damage that are beyond the State’s capability to address.

Governor Janet Mills announced that the first round of $450 winter energy relief payments are being mailed to eligible Maine taxpayers today. Second round of Pandemic Recovery for an Innovative Maine Economy (PRIME) Fund focused on supports that help startup companies scale and grow 

Governor Janet Mills announced today that 16 Maine organizations have been awarded $5.6 million through a new round of grant funding (PDF) from the Pandemic Recovery for an Innovative Maine Economy (PRIME) Fund, an initiative of the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan.
