Maine CDC Encourages Tick Bite Prevention This Fall

Ticks remain active as related disease levels climb

AUGUSTA-- The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) is urging all Maine people and visitors to take steps to protect themselves against tick bites when they spend time outdoors this fall.

Ticks remain active and some tickborne diseases continue to climb in number, with cases this October higher than at the same time last year for anaplasmosis, babesiosis, and hard tick relapsing fever.

Corrected Title for Section 67, Nursing Facility Reform: Revised Draft Rates and Methodologies Presented Materials & Comment Deadline

On October 23, 2024, MaineCare held an online public meeting for Section 67, Nursing Facilities to present the impact of revisions made to the originally proposed draft rates and models. We also explained the transition plan for the new rate model implementation. The revisions were based on public and written comments received following the original proposal in March of 2024. The transition plan factored in the transition funds appropriated by the Legislature.

10-144 C.M.R. Ch. 332; MaineCare Eligibility Manual - Part 2; MC Rule #308A - Eligibility and Verification Changes

The adopted rule updates the MaineCare Eligibility Manual, Part 2, Basic Eligibility Criteria, consistent with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services’ “2023 Streamlining Medicare Savings Program Enrollment” final rule (89 FR 22780). The adopted rule removes the requirement that applicants apply for other benefits as a condition of MaineCare eligibility.

Survey for HCBS Providers and Interested Parties of Clinical, Therapeutic, Supportive Skills Building, Assistive Technology, Care Coordination and Personal Support Services

Over the last several weeks, the Department with its vendor Public Consulting Group LLC (PCG), hosted several interested party engagement meetings to gather important feedback that will inform the rate determination process for certain services under Sections 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 29, 40, 96, and 102.

Section 107, Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTFs): Revised Draft Rates Public Review and Comment Public Forum

On November 6, 2024, the Department will present revisions  to the previously proposed Section 107, PRTF rates and model. Interested parties will have the opportunity to provide public comments.
