Maine DHHS Launches Campaign to Promote Continued Health Coverage as Medicaid Eligibility Reviews Resume

‘Stay Connected to Stay Covered’ campaign urges MaineCare members to update their contact information to preserve coverage

AUGUSTA— The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is launching a new public service campaign this week to promote continued health insurance coverage with regular Medicaid (MaineCare) eligibility and enrollment operations set to resume in April, as required by federal law.

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Trainings and Forums

The federal deadline to implement the EVV requirements for Home Health providers delivering services under Section 40 and Hospice providers delivering services under Section 43 happened January 1, 2023.

We continue to offer weekly provider and aggregator trainings and forums. All trainings and forums are online via Microsoft Teams.

NOTE:  The Absorb training system has been updated to allow providers to register for trainings and/or forums more than once.

Notice to MaineCare Providers Regarding MaineCare Reimbursement when Restraint is Utilized in Outpatient Behavioral Health Settings, Including Schools

This notice clarifies that MaineCare does not reimburse providers for time periods when a provider subjects a member to a restraint in outpatient behavioral health settings, including school settings.  Department rules, in particular the Rights of Recipients of mental health services (RoR) for adults and children (14-193 C.M.R. ch. 1 and 14-472 C.M.R. ch.

DHHS Awards First Round of Grants for Innovative Projects Supporting People with Disabilities

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) has awarded $4.3 million to 13 organizations in its first round of Home and Community Based Services HCBS Innovation Pilot Grants designed to support projects that promote greater independence and community participation among individuals with disabilities.
