Below is the State of Maine Data, Research, and Vital Statistics 2008-2017 Maternal and Birth Data Dashboard. Updates to this data plus new indicators will be posted as it becomes available.
Additional information about the data source and suppression is available by hovering over the blue icons on each page. The source of this data is Maine's vital records. When using this data, please include the following language to cite the source: "Source: Data, Research, and Vital Statistics, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services". Use Policy
The purpose of the Vital Statistics dashboards is to support the information needs of health officials, educators, students, and other users who are improving service delivery, evaluating health care systems, and monitoring the health of the people of Maine. This data may be used only for the purposes for which they are provided and may not be used in any way that would violate the HIPAA Privacy Rule. Any effort to determine the identity of any reported case or to use the information for any purpose other than for statistical reporting and analyses is prohibited. Therefore, as a condition for my access to data provided by these Dashboards over the Internet, I agree to:
- Use this data for statistical reporting and analyses only.
- Make no attempt to learn the identity of any individual included in the data.
- Make no disclosure or other use of the identity of any person discovered inadvertently, and advise the Registrar of the Office of Data, Research, and Vital Statistics of any such discovery.
I understand that failure to adhere to the above agreement will result in loss of access to these dashboards, and I may be subject to legal penalties. Any release or publication of health data contrary to the provisions stated may be punishable according to M.R.S.A., Title 22, Section 2706. If I am a State of Maine employee, this may be grounds for immediate dismissal.
