Maine CDC Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP) offers free services!

  • Free breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services
  • Access to full MaineCare if diagnosed with breast and/or cervical cancer or precancer
  • For qualifying individuals who identify as a woman, nonbinary, or transgender To enroll in MBCHP, you must meet these eligibility criteria once a year:

Residence

  • ME resident
  • NH individual whose primary residence is within 15 miles of the ME border
  • ME resident who…
    • Is a U.S. citizen or registered alien
    • has been diagnosed with breast and/or cervical cancer or precancer

Age

  • 40 – 64 years old
  • ≥ 65 years old and not enrolled in Medicare Part B
  • 35 – 39 years old if you…
    • are currently experiencing possible breast and/or cervical cancer symptoms
    • saw a doctor and need additional tests for a possible breast and/or cervical cancer
    • have not had a Pap test in five or more years
  • 35 – 64 years old

Income

Self-reported household income ≤ 250% of the current Federal Poverty Level

Insurance Status

  • Uninsured
  • Insured, but have high deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and/or premiums
  • Uninsured

The enrollment process is easy and can be completed by a brief phone call. The program offers additional benefits, including:

  • Patient navigation
  • Reimbursement for travel to MBCHP appointments
  • Language interpretation
  • The ability to backdate enrollment to cover services you already received
