Program Enrollment

The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program provides federally purchased vaccines for use by participating providers. These vaccines are administered to eligible children without vaccine cost to parents or providers. All routine childhood vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) are available through this program.

Which patients are eligible?

Maine is a universal vaccine state. This means that any child 18 years of age or younger can receive vaccine supplied by the Maine Immunization Program, with the only exception being privately insured children that are NOT Maine residents.

How can I become a VFC provider?

If you are interested in becoming a VFC provider, please email ImmunizeME.DHHS@maine.gov. VFC staff will then reach out and have your provider site complete an enrollment packet of information.

What else do I need to know to become a VFC provider?

After submitting your completed enrollment information, the VFC program staff will schedule and conduct an initial VFC enrollment site visit at your office. The enrollment visit ensures that you and your office staff are knowledgeable about the VFC Program, have the appropriate resources to implement the VFC Program requirements, and that all the necessary paperwork is completed.

Following the enrollment visit, our Immunization Information System (ImmPact IIS) will set up a virtual training on utilizing the ImmPact system.  All enrollment paperwork and trainings must be completed prior to ordering VFC vaccines.
