Personal Care Agencies

As of 8/20/2024, the PCA Rule has been adopted.  10-144 CMR Ch 129 Personal Care Agency Licensing Rule (Word)

Personal Care Agencies provide non-medical services to individuals in their homes. Personal Care services include, but are not limited to:

  • Activities of Daily Living (i.e., mobility, transfers, dressing, eating, etc.)
  • Household Tasks (i.e., shopping, laundry, cleaning, etc.)
  • Medication Reminders

Waivers

Facilities can apply for a waiver of specific regulations that are not mandated by state or federal law, and do not violate resident rights by submitting a waiver request application.

How to Apply for Licensure

To apply to have a Personal Care Agency licensed, select the link below to be directed to the online application.

Complete the appropriate application and submit with the required documentation as detailed in the application form. 

For agencies that have a current registration, when selecting a licensing option please select “Renew a Personal Care Agency license”.  Complete the application as directed and attach all requested documentation, regardless of if there was a change.
