From May 11 to Memorial Day on May 31, 5,365 people in Maine who got their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine received one of six incentives to get outdoors, part of Governor Mills’ effort to promote vaccination and healthy activity. This represents 12 percent of 46,271 adults who received a first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine during this period.

As part of DHHS’ commitment to equity and inclusion in Maine’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts the DHHS Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) is supporting drive-up vaccination clinics that prioritize access and provide additional supports for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) – as well as caretakers, family members, and the local community.

Under Maine’s age-based approach to vaccination eligibility, scores of older Mainers most at risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19 are receiving vaccinations.
