Community Resilience Partnership Profiles

In our new video series, we’ve visited communities across Maine engaging in the Community Resilience Partnership to tell us how their projects are addressing local climate priorities.

Limestone, Maine

The town of Limestone in Aroostook County received a $50,000 Community Action Grant to help purchase a pair of existing solar arrays located at the former Loring Air Force Base. A second $50,000 Community Action Grant is allowing the town to repair and upgrade the solar arrays, boosting the electricity generation of the systems. The town is partnering with the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) and together will reduce their electricity bills by 95% with energy from the arrays.

Presque Isle, Maine

In Presque Isle, the Aroostook Band of MicMacs is utilizing a $50,000 grant from the Community Resilience Partnership to expand the solar energy capacity, and sustainability, of its tribal fish hatchery.

South Portland, Maine

In South Portland, the city is using a $50,000 grant from the Community Resilience Partnership for its work to increase climate resilience across the community.


When Climate Comes Home: Jay, Maine

While studying climate resliience to participate in an international environmental competition, students at Spruce Mountain in Jay, Maine, experienced a significant storm that caused catastrophic damage to their community.
