Networking with Other Employers
Resources from Maine Hire a Vet Campaign
The Maine Hire A Vet Campaign is an innovative joint initiative of the Department of Labor, Bureau of Veterans' Services, and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) to engage Maine's employers in recruiting and hiring veterans.
The inaugural Hire A Vet Campaign launched on September 7, 2015, with the intention of engaging 100 employers to hire 100 veterans across 100 days. Now in its third year of operation, the Campaign continually has exceeded its goals - in 2016 147 participating employers who hired 197 veterans from all 16 counties, with an average wage of $22.23 per hour.
For employers, the Campaign includes:
- Launch networking event for participating employers
- "Military 101" training workshops for employers to learn more about military culture and to better understand how to onboard veterans
- "Veteran Showcase" e-mailed weekly to all employers, highlighting the skill set and career aspirations of a particular veteran
- Employer Awards and Recognition event at the close of the Campaign

ESGR LinkedIn Group
Maine's Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) provides a networking forum for employers through its LinkedIn Group.
