With heavy snow and mixed precipitation expected to continue overnight and throughout tomorrow, Governor Janet Mills directed that all State of Maine offices close tomorrow, Tuesday, December 31, 2019.

“With the winter storm continuing to bring heavy snow and mixed precipitation overnight into tomorrow evening, I have directed all State offices closed tomorrow,” said Governor Mills. “I urge Maine people to avoid driving if possible and, if they must be on the roads, to exercise caution and to give road crews and first responders ample room as they work to keep us safe.”

Due to a worsening mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain impacting travel in southern and coastal Maine and moving inland and northward, Governor Janet Mills has directed all state offices to close at 3:00 p.m. today, Monday, December 30, 2019.
 

Governor Janet Mills released the following statement grieving the passing of Maine State Representative Archie Verow (D-Brewer):

In observance of the holiday season, Governor Janet Mills has directed State of Maine offices to close at noon on Tuesday, December 24th, 2019 and all of Thursday, December 26th, 2019 to give state employees time to travel and enjoy the holiday season with their loved ones. Wednesday, December 25th is already a paid State holiday.

Governor Janet Mills and Commissioner of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services Jeanne Lambrew today denounced a decision by the Fifth Circuit Court in Louisiana in the Texas v. United States case challenging the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In a two-to-one decision, the court found the ACA’s individual mandate unconstitutional and unnecessarily called on the same Judge who decided a year ago to strike down the entire ACA to re-review the case.

Searsmont, MAINE – Calling the growth of Maine’s economy one of our state’s highest priorities, Governor Janet Mills today unveiled the State’s new 10-year strategic economic development plan. The non-partisan plan, which is the first of its kind in more than two decades, aims to foster collaboration among the public, private, non-profit, and education sectors to grow and diversify Maine’s economy. It establishes three overarching goals, recommends seven core strategies, and then outlines numerous concrete actions to achieve that growth.

In observance of Thanksgiving next Thursday, November 28th, Governor Janet Mills has directed that state offices close at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

“Snow and slick roads will make for dangerous driving conditions during tomorrow morning’s commute,” said Governor Mills. I encourage everyone to drive cautiously to prevent accidents and to give our public safety officers and road maintenance crews room to operate as they work to keep our roads clear.”

All state offices will resume regular hours Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
