Governor Mills Congratulates Lewiston’s Tree Streets Neighborhood on Transformative Federal Grant

Governor Mills, Growing Our Tree Streets Tour, LewistonGovernor Janet Mills applauded an announcement that the City of Lewiston will receive a $30 million Federal grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative Program:

“When I was in Lewiston earlier this week, I walked the Tree Streets neighborhood with Mayor Cayer and the City’s economic development and housing officials. They told me about how hard the City and its people have been working to revitalize the neighborhood and ensure that all who call it home have a bright future defined by good schools, safe housing, and economic opportunity. With this transformative Federal funding in hand, and with their hard work and ingenuity, that future is on the horizon. I congratulate Lewiston on winning this highly-competitive national award, thank Maine’s Congressional Delegation, including U.S. Senator Susan Collins for championing the application, and look forward to supporting their continued progress.”
