Welcome to the Aroostook District Coordinating Council
The Aroostook District Coordinating Council (Aroostook DCC) is a representative, district-wide body formed in partnership with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) to engage in collaborative planning and decision-making for the delivery of the ten Essential Public Health Services in the Aroostook Public Health District. The Aroostook Public Health District includes the 68 communities in Aroostook County.
The Vision of the Aroostook DCC is: Inspiring Leadership, Engaging Communities, Improving Health
The Mission of the Aroostook DCC is to be the district wide representative body for collaborative public health infrastructure development in Aroostook County by:
-Ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the ten Essential Public Health Services in Aroostook County.
-Creating and sustaining partnerships and shared publc health resources.
-Promoting county-wide collaboration in public health assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
-Continually enhancing the quality of public health services provided.
How do we meet this mission?
The Aroostook District Coordinating Council mobilizes working partnerships to combine efforts and resources within the District to produce results that no one community, organization, or sector could achieve effectively or efficiently alone.
In collaboration with District partners and the Maine Center for Disease Control, the Council creates and updates a District Public Health Improvement Plan (DPHIP). The plan identifies the Aroostook District’s public health priorities in order to create a multi-year plan of objectives, strategies, and outcomes for district action. The DPHIP also informs partners of the district work and is used to inform the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP).
Our 2017-2019 District Public Health Improvement Plan Priorities are:
-Improving Cardiovascular Health
-Reducing Impact of Substance Abuse
-Improving Healthy Weight
