Transition from Active Duty

Please don't hesitate to contact our office with any questions as you prepare to leave service. Most of us at the Bureau of Veterans' Services are veterans ourselves, and we've been in your shoes. We also have connections to resources across the state that can help you figure out what you'll need to do if you want to pursue: education or certification, find a job, start your own business, or buy a home.

Please visit our Resources page to find information on over 400 veteran resources across Maine. By selecting a specific topic category or selecting an area of the state you're most interested in, you'll find a host of available programs in your area.

Members of Maine's National Guard have a dedicated resource to assist with their transition. The Guard's Transition Assistance Advisor, can help connect you to benefits, assist with enrollment in Tricare, and ensure that you complete all processes required of you while you're still on active duty.
