Mental Health Care and Case Management

The Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services is pleased to announce a new program providing mental health care and case management services to Maine veterans. The program, which officially launched on Monday April 16th, will be administered by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in consultation with MBVS. Care coordination and case management will be facilitated by Health Affiliates Maine.

The pilot program, established after the passage of L.D. 1231, “An Act Regarding Mental Health Care for Maine Veterans", will be open to all veterans, free of charge, no matter their discharge or length of service. The term "veteran" includes:

  1. Any person who has served in the United States Armed Forces (Active Duty, National Guard and Reserves) who needs mental health treatment or mental health navigation.
  2. Any service member currently serving in the Armed Forces.

Health Affiliates Maine was selected to serve as a participating provider due to their recent history of working with service members, veterans and their families. Organizations and providers are encouraged to make referrals on behalf of veterans in need of care, and veterans are also encouraged to self-refer.
