BMV cancelling all driver license examinations Thursday, Friday due to storm

AUGUSTA - The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is cancelling all driver license examinations scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 4 and Friday, Jan. 5 due to the weather forecast.

A winter storm watch is in effect for the State of Maine, with blizzard conditions and up to a foot of snow expected in most regions.

"The storm they are predicting is shaping up to be stronger than four-wheel drive, swifter than we can get ahead of, and higher than we can climb," said Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap. "We are cancelling all driver license examinations in the interest of safety, for both our applicants and our examiners, and we will be rescheduling all applicants as expediently as possible."

Those who are scheduled for an exam on Thursday or Friday will automatically be rescheduled and will receive notice of a new exam date via the mail. Applicants do not need to take any action to receive a new exam date.

Any applicant who is concerned about the expiration date of his/her driver license permit due to the rescheduling of the exam should contact the Driver License Examination & Scheduling Unit at 624-9000, Ext. 52119.

Also in response to the storm forecast, the BMV mobile units will not be visiting the towns of Bridgton and Lincoln this week.
