BMV cancelling all driver license examinations Tuesday due to snowstorm

AUGUSTA – The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is cancelling all driver license examinations scheduled for Tuesday, March 13, due to the weather forecast.

A winter storm watch is in effect for the State of Maine, with more than a foot of snow expected in most regions. The storm is expected to begin before dawn on Tuesday in southern Maine and move northward throughout the day.

“Safety is our first priority, for both our applicants and our examiners, so we will be cancelling all scheduled exams rather than conducting them in unsafe driving conditions. All applicants will be rescheduled as expediently as possible,” said Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap.

Those who are scheduled for an exam on Tuesday will automatically be rescheduled and will receive notice of a new exam date via the mail. Applicants do not need to take any action to receive a new exam date.

Any applicant who is concerned about the expiration date of his/her driver license permit due to the rescheduling of the exam should contact the Driver License Examination & Scheduling Unit at 624-9000, Ext. 52119.

Also in response to the storm forecast, the BMV mobile units will not be making their regularly scheduled visits to the towns of Bridgton and Dover-Foxcroft on Tuesday, or to Skowhegan and Staceyville on Wednesday.
