Secretary of State Charles E. Summers, Jr. to Recognize the Waterford Library Association for 100 Years of Incorporation

AUGUSTA, Maine -- Secretary of State Charlie Summers will recognize The Waterford Library Association for achieving 100 years of incorporation during their Milestone Celebration at The Waterford Library in Waterford on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 7:00 PM.

The Waterford Library is part of the Waterford Flats Historic District.  In 1899 the Ladies Sewing Circle of Waterford, which had been operating a lending library at the Knight Store, incorporated as the Ladies Library Association of Waterford and in 1912 the association turned its property over to the newly formed Waterford Library Association. The Bear Mountain Library Association in South Waterford merged with the Waterford Library in 1994, creating one library to serve all Waterford residents.

The Department of the Secretary of State Division of Corporations maintains records for over 80,000 business entities and nonprofit corporations.
