The Property Tax Division is responsible for administering the training and certification of Certified Maine Assessors. In accordance with this responsibility, the Property Tax Division offers introductory courses in property tax administration for prospective assessors, as well as advanced courses for experienced assessors at various times throughout the year. Certified Maine Assessors must complete at least 16 hours of classroom training each year to maintain their certification. Assessors with advanced certifications, such as the CMA-2, CMA-3, or CMA-4, require additional hours to maintain their certification.
