In 2012, the Legislature enacted Public Law Chapter 574 "An Act to Protect Consumers by Strengthening the Laws Governing Prepaid Home Heating Oil Contracts". This law requires all home heating oil, kerosene or liquified petroleum gas dealers who offer prepaid contracts to register with the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation annually.
