MSP Publicly Available Policies

As representatives of the State of Maine, our mission is to keep our state a safe place to live and visit.  We will maintain order, protect life and property, and reduce fear of crime by providing diverse high quality law enforcement services.  We will foster partnerships with all those we serve by practicing IntegrityFairnessCompassion, and Excellence.  To further that mission by creating and strengthening public trust, the Maine State Police is providing direct access to some internal policies.  For further information, please contact the MSP Freedom of Access Act contact.  However, consistent with Maine law, public access is not provided to those policies and procedures which if released could be reasonably expected to jeopardize the life or physical safety of an individual (law enforcement, other government personnel, or the public), infrastructure (including information technology), or government operations and continuity.  Additionally, records which would have a reasonable possibility of interfering with the criminal justice process, be an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy, disclosing law enforcement investigative techniques and procedures or security plans and procedures not known by the general public or which are designated confidential by any other law will also not be published here.  Thank you for your interest in the Maine State Police.
