If you are interested in pursuing a career as a Maine State Trooper, please contact the Maine State Police Training Unit at 207-830-0665 or Recruiter.MSP@maine.gov.  For more information, please visit https://www.maine.gov/dps/msp/join.

The Southern Field Troop has barracks in both Alfred and Gray and maintains a cooperative Agreement with the York County Sheriff’s Office which assigns exclusive Maine State Police Patrol coverage for 6 towns in Southern Maine.  In addition to the dedicated patrol coverage, the Southern Field Troop provides traffic enforcement coverage and patrol support to Androscoggin, Cumberland, Oxford, and York Counties.

The Southern Field Troop works closely with local and county law enforcement throughout the area. Whether it is conducting a burglary investigation, or traffic enforcement, responding to a domestic violence complaint or speaking to a community group, the Troopers of the Southern Field Troop strive, always, to provide the highest and most professional level of service possible in keeping with the core values of the Maine State Police.

Troopers are also assigned to numerous specialty units in addition to their patrol functions. Southern Field Troop has personnel assigned to the Tactical Team, Dive Team, K-9 Team, Evidence Response Team and as Drug Recognition Experts. Members of these teams assist state, county and municipal police agencies with their expertise in their given specialties. We also have Troopers who are certified instructors in Firearms and EVOC through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
