  • The Maine Online Open-Source Education (MOOSE) platform provides free, interdisciplinary resources for PreK-12 educators that are aligned to the Maine Learning Results and delivered on a dedicated, student-centered platform. All project-based modules help meet literacy outcomes and have been designed by Maine educators including, but not limited to, teachers, curriculum leaders, and Maine educational community organizations such as museums, libraries, and educational centers. As the State of Maine's Digital Content Library, MOOSE is an incredibly rich, living resource for educators as it is constantly evolving and growing with new modules and educator resources being added each year.

Learn more about the project by visiting the MOOSE home on the Maine DOE website or by directly exploring the MOOSE platform itself.

  • Braided Interdisciplinary Instruction: Weaving the strands of literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening) for instruction and assessment reflects the practical application of literacy development. Reading closely with a four-pronged approach helps students learn how to transfer their literacy learning to new contexts and to make sense of texts they have not encountered before.
