The Office of Policy and Government Affairs acts as a conduit of communication between education stakeholders and the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee in the Maine Legislature. There are numerous ways for educators and education stakeholders to get involved directly in the legislative process, and to share their voice, expertise, and opinions on the impact of proposed education-related legislation.
How to Get Involved
The primary way for the public to get involved is through committee hearings. Members of the public are able to engage through:
1. Written Testimony
2. In-Person Testimony
3. Watching Committee Hearings and Work Sessions
4. Direct Outreach to Your Local Legislators
How to Watch Public Hearings and Work Sessions
Public Hearings and Work Sessions take place in the Burton Cross Building in Augusta, Room 208. These events are open to the public.
Additionally, live audio and video of active hearings and sessions are provided for viewing from anywhere.
