This summer, the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) and the Lobster Advisory Council (LAC) are conducting a survey of all lobster industry harvesters and dealers to collect input on Maine’s lobster resource and fishery. A paper copy of the survey has been sent to the mailing address we have on file for you, along with a prepaid envelope for you to use to return the survey to DMR.

Bath - The body of a male was recovered by the Maine Marine Patrol yesterday at 6 p.m. from the shore of Woods Island in the Kennebec River. The body will be transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for examination and confirmation of identification.

The body was spotted by good Samaritans on Crawford Island shortly before 6 p.m., who called 911 to report it. Woods Island is a short distance from Crawford Island in the Kennebec River. 

Bath - The Maine Marine Patrol is resuming a search today in the Kennebec River near Bath for Robert Stolt, 22 of Augusta, who was fishing yesterday when he attempted to rescue his dog, which had jumped in the river from Stolt's 23-foot boat near Lines Island.

Marine Patrol was notified of the incident yesterday at 2:10 p.m. after a witness called 911 to report seeing two people in the water.

Isle au Haut - Maine Marine Patrol has recovered the body of 72-year-old Thomas Kent Smith of Nova Scotia from the shore of Isle au Haut. Mr. Smith was sailing with two others, Robert and Sandra Comeau from New Hampshire, when their sailboat ran aground early this morning. The Comeaus called 911 at approximately 3am to report that they were stranded on shore near Cape Ann Ledge on the southern end Isle au Haut after their 40-foot sailboat began to break apart on the rocks.

Proposed Issuance of Department of the Army Maine General Permits

Augusta – The Maine Coastal Program, a Division of the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR), has opened registration for the annual Coastal Cleanup. The Coastal Cleanup is a volunteer-driven initiative designed to clean debris from Maine’s coastal shores and waterfront communities.

Part of the International Coastal Cleanup, Maine’s Coastal Cleanup will run from September 6th to the 20th.
