Spirits

Maine is one of 18 juristions that regulates spirits within its borders. By controlling this product, the State is the only entity that may bring liquor into the state.

Our mission is to effectively regulate the spirits industry to insure responsible business practices and create a favorable economic climate while prohibiting sales to minors.

Starting on July 1, 2014 and for the next 10 years, the Bureau has contracted with Pine State Spirits to provide administration, warehousing and distribution for Maine spirits business. This new partnership will bring new services and systems to our essential business partners, Agency Liquor Store. This is an exciting time for the spirits business in Maine.

The listing and pricing of distilled spirits are determined by the Bureau with assistance of the Commission.
